Alice St provides a variety of housing typologies behind a facade grain cognisant of the scale of the adjoining streets. Comprising 203 units, retail, commercial and communal spaces, the site offers both a destination and through connection, with a public pocket park defined by retail and commercial edges. Progression deeper into the internal courtyard introduces thresholds transitioning from the semi public to semi private and beyond, these edges define resident communal space.
It offers not only traditional type units but also `terrace’ style homes at the southwest corner of the site replicating the ownership patterns of the adjoining frontages. The terraces provide individual entrances and an interaction with the local community across the traditional `front’ fence and gate.
This site renewal will reactivate the thresholds of the site with the adjoining community.
